“A Quiet Place”

Last week, I went and saw “A Quiet Place” twice in one day. Why did I do that? Well, because it was awesome. I went earlier in the day with my mom, my friend, and my friend’s mom, and then later in the day with my boyfriend. That was the first time I’ve ever seen two movies in one day. (Do you remember what the weather was like on Sunday? It was a good day for the movies.) I even had the opportunity to see a different movie later that day, but I told my boyfriend we needed to see it. Yes, two movies in one day is a lot, but totally worth it.

“A Quiet Place” was a different kind of scary movie. It wasn’t really like anything I had ever seen before. Just a heads up, if you go, make sure you do anything loud beforehand because over half of the movie is silent. (It was hard for us to eat nachos.) Strange, I know. But trust me, you won’t regret seeing it.

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt do a great job together in this movie. Going into it, I had no idea that they are married in real life! Now that I know, I love the movie even more. Krasinski is also the director. It’s very unique how they had so much of the movie quiet. The plot is golden. I don’t want to give away too much, but I think the wide appeal is because it is just as much about the relationships of the characters as it is about the terrifying takeover of the beasts who track their prey by sound.

Most of the time when you think of a scary movie, you think of ghosts and spirits. However, this is more of an apocalypse movie. I wouldn’t even necessarily say it’s a “scary” movie. I would probably say its suspenseful and a thriller. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

At the end of the movie, you are thinking, “Did they seriously just end it like that?” But I feel like that’s how you feel at the end of most movies. If I had to give it a rating, I would say 9/10. Surprisingly Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 95%, and they never give good ratings to scary movies.

All in all, you will feel very satisfied after seeing this movie. I have yet to talk to someone who didn’t like it. Head out to your local theater to see a fantastic movie! It won’t be the same on a small screen, so I recommend getting to the theater before it leaves. Here’s a link to showtimes coming up at AMC Barrywoods:
