I had the opportunity to fly out to visit my family in Colombia this winter break. Most of my family lives in Cartagena, which is a very touristy coastal city. I also got to go up to the Sierra Nevada to explore the village called Minca, where I got to see a whole other life compared to the bustling city. A step even further from what I was used to was the city on water that was a 90 minute boat ride off of Barranquilla, Colombia where all of the houses and stores in the town were on stilts-on water! Life there is no where near easy, but they people seem really happy. This gallery shows the glamour of the city, the charm of the small mountain village, and the tough life for the people who live in the ocean.
