Back in the simple days of 1959, four boys from a small town in Oregon experience many adventures together. No worries, no technology, just a group of friends and the search for a dead body.
Watching “Stand By Me” makes me wish I was a kid during this time. Everything seems so much more simple.
Gordie, Vern, Chris and Teddy, played by young Wil Wheaton, Jerry O’Connell, River Phoenix and Corey Feldman all do a great job and you really feel like they are kids who grew up together. The bond seems real although some points in the movie may seem cheesy.
In search for adventure, the boys go on the search for a dead boy that nobody could find the body of. Most of the movie takes place in the nature and really brings out the beauty of Oregon.
There are a few scenes such as them dodging trains that are very exciting, but there are also some really slow parts. I didn’t really mind but I could definitely see how some people would get bored during this hour and a half long movie.
I also really enjoyed the soundtrack of this movie. Many of the songs are classics and very catchy.
If you enjoy old coming of age movies then this is definitely the right movie for you. I would even go as far as calling this movie a classic. It shows the bond of friends in a much more simple time without as much technology. I would rate this movie 9/10 and highly recommend to watch it.
