South soccer is one game away from going to state in St. Louis. This game will take place at Rockhurst High School this Saturday at 1 pm against Rockhurst.
South is definitely a special team. Turner Hall, Junior midfielder believes that the teams bond and togetherness set them apart from other teams.
“Our chemistry is very high because we have all been playing with each other for so long,” said Hall.
So far in the playoffs, South has been very successful. Leading scorer, Tyler Pisoni, Junior, believes that not changing anything will lead south to victory on Saturday.
“We need to play our style of soccer and keep everything the same from earlier in the playoffs.” said Pisoni.
However, not everything can stay the same. South has sustained an injury to one of its important attacking players.
“Danny Gunderson, one of our key forwards, injured his hamstring on Tuesday.” said Pisoni.
Gunderson will not be able to play this saturday against Rockhurst and it is not known how long he will be out.
Even without Gunderson, South managed to win on Tuesday against Oak Park 3-0. A certain set of players stepped up to ensure victory.
“Our defense has really stepped during the playoffs,” said Pisoni, “They haven’t given up a goal during the playoffs.”
Rockhurst has a slight advantage playing at home this Saturday, but Turner Hall, Junior midfielder, believes that this will not hurt South.
“I have confidence that our fans will come and support us,” said Hall.
To support South on Saturday, travel down to Rockhurst and watch the boys play at 1 pm.
