Saturday, Oct. 26, South Cross Country ran at the Districts meet in Kearney at the Jesse James Fairgrounds. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams placed, with the boys receiving second place and the girls receiving fourth. Both teams qualified for Sectionals.
The meet was 3.1 miles long and there were 11 teams competing. The Varsity runners from both of South’s teams participated in the race.
“Our main goal was to qualify for Sectionals, but we really wanted to win,” said Isaac Frieden, junior. “Now we’re motivated for Sectionals.”
Jasmine Crawford, freshman ran on Saturday as a freshman. She said she was “proud” to have been given the chance to compete at her young age.
“Everyone was really proud of what they did,” said Crawford. “I think everyone did well…I have high expectations for Sectionals.”
Sectionals will take place on Nov. 2. If the teams place, they will be able to compete at the state level which takes place the following week on Nov. 9.
