People have been looking forward to summer basically since winter break. Some look forward to bonfires, fireworks and just having a break from schoolwork. But other South students are excited for upcoming concerts this summer.
Some of these South students will be seeing some of their favorite performers at concerts hosted by popular Kansas City radio stations. Mix 93.3 is doing their Red, White and Boom celebration on July 3, new this summer is Dancefestopia produced by 95.7 The Vibe on June 1, and the next day, June 2, 96.5 The Buzz is producing Buzz Beach Ball.
At Dancefestopia will be Wiz Khalifa, Flo Rida and 3OH!3, plus 30 other performers. Someone excited to attend is Megan Pyles (9).
“I’ve always liked 3OH!3, and it would be great to see them live,” said Pyles.
But she says that there is something she wishes she could see even more.
“My dream is to go to Coachella. My life would be made if my friends and I could go just once,” said Pyles.
Some other Coachella hopefuls include Kristen Lee (9).
“Megan and I were talking about how we wanted to order Coachella t-shirts and watch live performances online,” said Lee.
Last year Lee went to Buzz Beach Ball and saw Mumford and Sons among others perform.
“Mumford was awesome last year, and I heard there are a lot of other good performers this year,” said Lee.
Buzz Beach Ball’s lineup this year will include Foster the People and the Kooks, along with others including Sublime with Rome, the Shins and Kimbra.
“I am excited to see Sublime with Rome and Kimbra,” said Hannah Woodson (12).
Woodson says she enjoys all kinds of music and loves finding new things.
“I guess I’d consider my styloe being alternative,” said Woodson.
Red, White and Boom is featuring Dancing with the Stars castoff Gavin DeGraw as their headliner. Some other performers at this patriotic concert include Colbie Caillat, Chris Rene, Karmin, Andy Grammer, Neon Hitch and Havana Brown.
These performers might not be as well known as performers at Buzz Beach Ball or Dancefestopia but remember Justin Bieber performed at the 2009 Red, White and Boom he became a worldwide superstar.
Many South students are also looking forward to Rock Fest this year, coming up on May 14, with performers including Slash and Shinedown.
“I really hope I can go,” said Jackson Burnette (10).
Relaxing by the pool or waiting miserably to get of your work shift, no matter what you can have more fun this summer creating a great playlist or enjoying one of these amazing concerts.
