Park Hill South baseball team faced one of their biggest challenges on April 17. They put up a great fight against Staley High School who is known for their baseball talent and just won a tournament in Columbia. Staley has a lot of D1 talent on their team including great pitchers and position players too. Staley is also the second best team in Missouri.
South started junior, Ethan Farrow, did really well and held them to only three runs. Farrow was followed by senior, Dom Scudero, who also pitched well, who was then followed by Cameron Koeniger. He pitched well also and only gave up two runs. To finish the game, South put in sophomore Will Fricker, who pitched really well and did not give up a run.
The pitcher that Staley started, Braedyn Mclaughlin, was heating up at 92 and throwing a lot of strikes as well. Mclaughlin pitched for five innings and then was followed by Jake Wilson who was throwing high 80’s with good off speed as well. Wilson went to finish off the game as well.
The game was always close but Staley started to pull away and got up on South 8-4. South rallied back however and got three runs in the seventh to make the game 8-7. The game ended on a player getting thrown out at second trying to steal on a ground ball.
