As you walk in, the fresh smell of seasoned potatoes hits you like a train. You hear your stomach grumble and excitement feels your body in anticipation of the meal you are about to devour.
Granite City is a food and brewery restaurant located in Zona Rosa. They have a great atmosphere. Inside the restaurant, it’s very clean and open. Even though I went on a Saturday night, it wasn’t very busy.
Before I ordered my meal I got the Idaho Nachos as a starter. The flavors of the cheese and the bacon really complimented the waffle fries. The price of it was $11.25 which seems pretty expensive, but it was a very large portion–enough food to share with the people in your party.
The meal I ordered was the GC Classic Cheeseburger. It was a half-pound steak burger with American cheese. It also came with a side of your choice, and I choose fries. The price of it was $10.95 and I loved the burger. There were two slices of cheese, but it wasn’t too overpowering. The steak burger was also cooked to the wellness that I wanted. Both of my meals were high quality and were big portions. I definitely think that the price was worth it.
The downfall of the restaurant were the hosts. I remember walking into Granite City, and they really didn’t acknowledge us. When we thanked her for seating us she didn’t reply back. She sat us down and left as quickly as possible. When we left the restaurant they just stood there, and didn’t say a thing as we walked out the door.
Besides the hosts, the rest of the service was great. Our waitress was very friendly. She was very knowledgable of the menu, and didn’t rush us to choose what we wanted to eat.
Granite City has a wide range of hours. Monday through Thursdays they are open from 11 a.m. to midnight. Friday and Saturday they are open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday their hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Overall, I rate my experience a 4/5 stars. It was a nice restaurant, but at the same time it was very casual. The service for the most part was great, and the food was fantastic. I would really recommend going there if you’re debating on your next place to eat.
