As usual, there are players that are having monumental seasons and are trying to become the NBA MVP.
This year three players stand out among others, Russell Westbrook, who is averaging 31.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 10 assist this year, Kevin Durant who averages 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, and James Harden who averages 29 points, 11.3 assist, and 7.9 rebounds. Recently Durant got hurt and is expected to miss four weeks at least with an MCL sprain.
Nick Ruffini, junior, is a fan of the Warriors.
“The Warriors will still be a great contender without Kevin Durant. We have Stephen Curry,” said Ruffini.
This still leaves Russell Westbrook and James Harden as the front runners but now opens possibilities for players to show their worth and become candidates in the MVP race.
Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James are players that are considered to be possibilities that can replace Kevin Durant for the third spot. They both are on teams that could make a run in the playoffs and maybe win the championship.         Leonard is averaging 26.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. While these stats don’t look as good as the others, Leonard is also considered the best defender in the league averaging almost two steals per game.
LeBron James is one of the most worldwide names and can be looked at the best player in the league despite his stats not being the best. He is averaging 26 points, 8.8 assist, and 8.2 rebounds this year.
Brandon Crabtree, a junior said, “LeBron will have led his team back to the championship and hopefully beat the Warriors for a repeat.”
