Demarcus Cousins has been a dominate force in the league but has had many issues. His biggest issues have been his temper, his team, and ego. Demarcus has had many technical fouls this year that have cost his team the game. Cousins is a 6’10 center and is arguably the best in the league at his position. This year he is averaging 27.6 points, 10.7 rebounds. With these numbers, he was voted to the all-star game where something he thought wouldn’t happen, happened.
Before the All-star game he was a member of the Sacramento Kings. However, almost immediately after the game ended, he was informed that he had been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. The Kings have made some questionable moves in their time but this was said to be the most unreasonable one. They traded away one of the best centers and in return wanted nothing but Buddy Hield, who is a developing rookie guard, and a 1st round pick. They also received 2 bench players but even all that combined was not close to being equal to Demarcus Cousins.
This was a very surprising move by the Kings especially after they had said they weren’t going to trade him the week before. The trade also allowed Cousins to pair up with the other best center in the league, Anthony Davis. This duo will have the league in terror in a few years and if they can get a better guard then they can possibly compete with some of the best teams in the league and maybe go far in the playoffs. Anthony Davis is averaging 28.1 points, and 11.8 rebounds.
Christian Jackson has been a fan of him since he was drafted.
Jackson said, “The pelicans can beat anyone now.”
By talent alone the two bigs look great on paper but the real question everyone is wondering is if these two can play great together. Only time will tell us but if these two can click well together, they could become an unstoppable force in the league.
