After an exceptional performance last Sunday against the Jets, the Chiefs are hoping to pull out another win when they play the Steelers on October 7th. The last time that the two teams met was on October 25th of last year when the Chiefs won 23-13, but in the overall series history Pittsburgh is leading Kansas City 20-11.
Last week the Steelers were dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles. They were only able to muster three points on offense while their defense gave up 34. On the other hand, the Chiefs only allowed three points on defense while scoring 24 themselves. Kansas City forced eight turnovers and intercepted six passes over the course of the game.
Kansas City has the momentum to win this game, but I don’t know if they have the offense. In last week’s game the offense only scored 10 points, leaving the defense to score the other 14.
“Our running back situation is still in question,” said Matthew Dieleman, senior. “We don’t have a threatening wide receiver either, they’re just average.” The Chiefs are expecting Jamaal Charles to play some of Sunday’s game after a torn ACL sidelined him last October.
The Steelers are also expecting a new starter this game. Le’Veon Bell is coming off of a three game suspension and will be a key contributor to the Pittsburgh offense.
Nils Backenstrass, sophomore says, “I think it will be a good game overall but in my opinion, Ben Roethlisberger will bounce back from last week and have a great performance.”
Tune in to NBC at 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 2nd to watch the Chiefs take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
