Winter Girls by Laurie Halse Anderson ****

I enjoyed this book a lot because it was a fast read. It kept me interested the whole time I was reading it. Since the main characters are in high school it was easy to relate to some of their struggles that come with being in high school. Not only could I relate to the high school aspects of the book, I could relate to the main characters problems with her step mom.

The parts that I couldn’t relate to still kept me hooked. The main character, Lia and her friend Cassie both struggle with anorexia. Since I am not anorexic it was very interesting to see the way they thought and how they handled eating something as simple as bread.

I wouldn’t recommend this book to someone who has struggled with anorexia before because it may trigger some bad thoughts or bring back old habits. If you are a person that likes mystery and can handle the harsh realities of living with disorders, then this is the book for you.
