The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth consecutive game beating the Chargers 33-3 in San Diego. This is now the third week in a row the Chiefs have won in a blowout. Another big win for the Chiefs as the playoff race begins to heat up now. The win moves the Chiefs to second in the division at 5-5, three games behind the Broncos.
The Chiefs defense only allowed Philip Rivers to throw for 178 yards, considering that Rivers was second in the league in passing this was a huge victory for them. The defense had three sacks, two by Tamba Hali and the other by Josh Mauga, and also had a pick six courtesy of Justin Houston.
When I asked Andrew Troha, senior, on what he thought about the game he said,” It was a great win, we played like a team. Defense really showed up especially with that pick six. ”
The Chiefs offense has still struggled at times to score touchdowns, but has done better in recent weeks. Alex Smith has not thrown an interception since Week three and the Offensive line only gave up three sacks. Charcandrick West tweaked his hamstring and did not return in yesterday’s games, but Spencer Ware came in and ran for 96 yards and also had two touchdowns.
The Chiefs have the easiest schedule remaining in the NFL with their opponents going a combined 20-39.
I asked Kaleb Cote, senior, if he still thinks the Chiefs will make it to the playoffs and he replied, “Yes the Chiefs will win out finishing 11-5, and they will win the division too.”
If the Chiefs keep playing like the way they are I don’t see them losing another game the rest of the season especially with the schedule they have in front of them. The Bills will be a tough opponent next week but after that it is easy sailing for the Chiefs.
