South Football plays Ruskin on Friday at Ruskin. South hopes to pick up their first win of the year, after a tough 0-7 start. Though their record is not good, South is not and should not be an 0-7 football team.
South has lost multiple tough, winnable games. Notorious for losing their halftime leads, South has given up the majority of their points this year in the second half.
Max Ghasemi, soph., said, “I’m going to the game on Friday even though it’s an away game because I want to support the team and see us finally get a win.”
Ruskin also enters the game winless and hopes to secure their first victory.
Regardless of win-loss record, every team in Missouri 5A football makes the playoffs. Theoretically, South could make it all the way to the State Championship even though they haven’t won a game yet.
“I think we are going to upset whoever we play first in the playoffs,” said Ghasemi.
South has a young team this season, with only twelve seniors according to maxpreps.com.
Ghasemi said, “I think Emmanuel Butler will have a breakout game with three touchdowns.”
South faces St. Joe Central for their final regular season game of the year at home on 16 October.
