The Kansas City Chiefs finished the 2014 season at 9-7, just short of a playoff berth.
With new signings they look to be locked in for the 2015 season playoff race.
In their first week, they were challenged by the Houston Texans. But they put them away by Alex Smith playing another clean game.
The offense played conservatively as always, having lots of quick passes and screen plays to their athletic players. It worked out as the stellar (and sometimes overly aggressive) Texans defensive line only got to Smith twice. It also showed in their turnover stat giving the ball away zero times.
And the defense shut the Texans offense down early. They pressured Hoyer and Mallett enough to get 5 sacks and an interception.
The Chiefs kept Hoyer’s production down forcing Houston to switch quarterbacks to Mallett.
While they had a beautiful first week, they will have a quick break before playing another grueling match-up against the Broncos at home.
