That’s what Sydney Stewart, junior, said when the South volleyball team found out they were travelling to Orlando for a tournament.
The new head coach for South’s volleyball team, Coach McConnell, tries to take her team to a tournament out of town every other year when they can fund it.
The team played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando that has “world-class venues designed to give every athlete the best possible competition experience” according to their official website.
The girls had to compete against teams from all over the country. There were seven total teams in their bracket. Some were from Colorado, New York, and New Jersey.
And they didn’t just compete, they won it all.
There were a few teams that weren’t very good, Stewart said, but a lot more that we had to really work to beat.
“As a team we made a lot of amazing plays,” Stewart said. This included diving after balls and making one-handed saves.
The team not only won the tournament, but also had a great experience.
“It was a really fun time, and there was a lot of team bonding,” Stewart said.
