When I stepped into my local AMC and bought my ticket for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, I anticipated only greatness from Marvel’s second installment of Captain America, and greatness is what I got.
After seeing what Marvel Studios was able to bring together with “The Avengers”, I expected no less from “The Winter Soldier” and was excited to see what Marvel would make of it. I was a little skeptical though after seeing the trailer compared to marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World”, and it seemed like it might be in a way rather boring.
Instead, I was amazed. I might say that it was one of the best Marvel movies to date, and it expressed Marvel in a completely different way. It was very much a realistic super-hero movie that showed the political side of things and civil rights for people and what they should know. It also expressed government corruption with the secret agency S.H.I.E.L.D. being taken over by the thought-to-be-rid-of secret Nazi group Hydra.
As far as setting up for the next movie in the phase two of The Avengers saga it gives for what will be an interesting plot in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, now with S.H.I.E.L.D gone for good as it seems.
The only problem I had with the movie is that it did not have the same sense of humor that its predecessors had, which is what gave the other Avengers movies their good parts. Even with that said, it is an overall great movie.
I would highly recommend to anyone and not just fans of the marvel universe to see this movie, I will give it a four point two out of five star rating for its intriguing plot and great CGI effects but for it having not as much humor that I liked so much from the first movie and “The Avengers”.
