The ladies basketball team began the North Kansas City Classic off with a bang.
Two weeks after the boys’ team made it to the championship game of the same tournament, the girls look to have the same turn out; this time though with the first place trophy.
Last night the Lady Panthers played a young and struggling Park Hill Trojans team in the first round. After the first half of play South was leading 31-15 and the rest is history.
Madeline Homoly, sophomore, produced a dominant game in scoring 18 points along side Courtney Claasen, senior, who had 15 points and Samantha Roy, junior, with 10 points.
Post players proved to play a large role in Homoly who also had several rebounds and also Morgan Keesee, junior, who added 11 points for the Lady Panthers.
From the perimeter the ladies were able to knock down key shots and also dish numerous passes down low to the posts.
Their next game will be on Wednesday night in the NKC High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. against the St. Joe Central Lady Indians in the semi-final round.
