President Obama’s second inauguration was obviously the talk of the week, but an addition to the gossip, a suspicion has been proved right that Beyonce Knowles did indeed lip-sync the Star-Spangled Banner.
Master Sgt. of the U.S. Marine Band Kristin duBois told ABC News that as far as she knew, Beyonce was not singing.
“We all know Beyonce can sing,” said duBois. “We do not know why she decided to go with the pre-recorded music at the last minute.”
The version of the Star-Spangled Banner that was broadcasted was pre-recorded. Proof being an Instagram photo that Beyonce posted with her holding the National Anthem sheet music. Also, the band did not play during her performance.
Another performer at the ceremony, James Taylor, seemed to understand a musician’s problem with playing in the cold.
“It’s always hard for a guitar player to play when it’s cold because your hands sort of stiffen up,” said Taylor. “Nerves tend to do that to you anyway.”
DuBois said she didn’t know why Beyonce took her earpiece out mid-performance, but assured ABC News that all of the other performances were not pre-recorded.
