BREAKING: Panthers Top Jays

Park Hill South Panther Soccer boys faced a tough opponent in the Liberty Blue Jays, but came out on top 3-2.

With over 27 minutes remaining in the first half, sophomore Dylan Kintner scored the first goal for the Panthers, but the Blue Jays would respond shortly after with a goal of their own.  Neither team would score again in the first half, but senior Adam Weatherly would suffer a head injury right before halftime, and he would not return for the remainder of the game.

Right after halftime, senior Alex Weatherly would knock in a goal to give South the 2-1 lead. But the Jays would once again tie it up with just under 20 minutes left in the match. However, junior Josh Hall would score the third and final goal for the Panthers, and they held on to win.

Many fans, such as junior Cody Hernandez, realized the significance of a game like that.

“(South) played with a lot of heart,” Hernandez said. “They came out strong and got an important win. At this time of the year, it’s win or go home”.

And the Panthers will not be going home tonight. They advance to play the Rockhurst Hawklets in the State Quarterfinals at Rockhurst on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
