Park Hill South Panther Soccer boys got off to a quick start tonight, and never looked back, beating the Staley Falcons 3-0 in the first match of districts.
Nearly halfway through the first half, senior Alex Weatherly scored the first goal for the Panthers. Junior Jordan Lindsey would follow up with another goal with just under two minutes left in the first half to take a 2-0 lead at the halfway point. Just after the 2nd half started, Weatherly scored for a second and final time, making the score 3-0.
Sophomore Dylan Kitner realized the significance of this game, knowing that it meant that they would “live another day”.
“Wins like this shows what kind of a team we are,” Kitner said.
On a bad note, for the Panthers, junior Ryan Dansby left the game midway through the second half with a broken leg. Dansby will miss the remainder of the season.
Senior Brian Kissee said that it was sad to see Dansby “go down like that”.
“They were already losing 3-0,” said Kissee. “That act was just dirty and unnecessary”.
Staley is eliminated from playoff contention, while the Panthers will play Park Hill on Thursday at Staley. Park Hill beat Oak Park 2-1 in double overtime late Tuesday afternoon.
