The show stars Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”) and Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”) both as country music stars. Britton plays Rayna Jaymes, a sort of washed out star, but one that still has hopes for her career.
Panettiere plays Juliette Barnes, who has a different sound than other musicians in Nashville.
“She is a good singer for 12-year-olds,” said an extra on her music video. The extra was fired later on. Barnes got into the business by playing “fluffy” music, which is not how she hopes to leave. Barnes wants to have meaning behind her lyrics, not just songs about break-ups for preteens.
The music on this show is not the typical “Glee” style covers of country songs. These are genuinely, well written songs. One of the songs, “If I Didn’t Know Better” performed by Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen was truly phenomenal and broke the top five on the iTunes county chart.
This is the best new show I have seen this year. My entire family loves to watch it (which is pretty hard thing to do). This show is a knock-out and I give it five out of five stars.
