Tajh Boyd and Clemson will look to take over the ACC Saturday night at Florida State

If you’re not glued to your television this weekend watching the plethora of great match-ups in the college football world then you better have a damn good excuse. The games have been getting better and better every week and we’re finally starting to see some upsets, just ask USC. Week Three taught us that Arkansas is awful without Tyler Wilson, Alabama really is that good and even Pittsburgh is capable of getting a win. This week looks to be even better for us college football junkies so let’s jump right in.

#21 Arizona @ #3 Oregon, 9:30, ESPN
If you love high-scoring, up-tempo battles then boy do you have one to watch in Eugene come Saturday night. The Ducks, led by Heisman Trophy candidate DeAnthony Thomas, are always labeled the fastest team in America. While the Wildcats might be flying a little under the radar, don’t expect them to just roll over against Oregon. Quarterback Matt Scott has already thrown for 995 yards and seven touchdowns to only one interception as Arizona is 3-0. While this one will be a thriller, I still like the Ducks at home.
Prediction: Oregon 44, Arizona 37

#9 Clemson @ #7 Florida State, 7:00, ABC
While Virginia Tech fell to the biggest excuse of a BCS team in Pittsburgh in week three, both Clemson and Florida State improved to 3-0 and looked to become the only two threats to challenge for a national title out of the ACC. Clemson’s offense led by Quarterback Tajh Boyd will be going up against a Florida State defense that has only allowed three points in their first three contests. The key to this one should be how well the Seminoles’ secondary plays and the turnover margin. The winner very well could see a huge jump in the rankings.
Prediction: Florida State 24, Clemson 20

#17 Michigan @ #10 Notre Dame, 6:30, NBC
Notre Dame finally made me a believer in week three’s dismissal of Michigan State. After defeating the likes of Navy and Purdue, the Golden Domers finally got an impressive win, on the road nonetheless. Brian Kelly might finally have this team poised to make a BCS run. Michigan has won two in a row since being smacked by Alabama in the season opener and will look to continue the success in South Bend this weekend. Look for Notre Dame to come out strong early and get a big win. And if they don’t, well then that’s Notre Dame.
Prediction: Notre Dame 33, Michigan 17

Kansas @ Northern Illinois, 2:30,
The Jayhawks really surprised me last week against TCU. I figured they’d lose by at least four touchdowns, honestly. Kansas surrendered plenty of yards and allowed the Horned Frogs to plow over them on offense, but the Jayhawks forced four, yes four red zone turnovers that kept TCU points off the scoreboard. While the opponent weakens this week, the Jayhawks’ intensity should not. The Huskies won the MAC last year and if Kansas gets too cocky they very well could get beaten again. It’ll be close, but I’ll give a slight nod to Kansas to get win number two.
Prediction: Kansas 26, Northern Illinois 23

Missouri @ #6 South Carolina, 2:30, CBS
The Tigers got their second win last week against Arizona State without starting Quarterback James Franklin. While much has been debated about how Franklin handled the team’s medical staff’s recommendation for his injury, redshirt Freshman Quarterback Corbin Berkstresser didn’t look too shabby in his first collegiate start. That however will change as the Tigers head to a not-so-friendly Columbia this week to take on the Gamecocks in South Carolina. Injuries have plagued the Tigers’ O-Line and look for the strong defensive front of South Carolina to dominate in the trenches.
Prediction: South Carolina 34, Missouri 20

#15 Kansas State @ #4 Oklahoma, 6:50, FOX
This is just yet another one of the headliners in college football this weekend. Bill Snyder and the boys will head down to Norman, Okla. to take on an Oklahoma team who was one of the only teams to handily beat the Wildcats last year. This one looks to be a great match-up between to solid offenses but the difference in this one lies on the defensive side of the ball. While Kansas State has improved every year in recent memory, their squad doesn’t compare to that of OU. The Sooners are good and deep on defense and should be able to come at Collin Klein and force him to pass more than the Wildcats would like.
Prediction: Oklahoma 41, Kansas State 24

I don’t know about the rest of you, but just looking at these match-ups has me wishing it was Saturday already. There are major games affecting the ACC, Pac-12, Big Ten, Big XII and SEC this weekend. Of course the Big East is still irrelevant for all seven teams not named Louisville. The lineup for this weekend is stacked and is just another reminder of why college football is so much better than the pro game. Whether you’re cheering on the Jayhawks, Wildcats, Tigers or any other team this weekend, enjoy the great football and get ready for some huge shake up.
