Early August is when the season for these girls’ ends and with the beautiful weather we have recieved, it looks as if they want to be out there every single day. But even with the seasons changing, they still get some “perfect days” typically. With practice mostly every day after school, the time is spot on and normally sunny on the fairways.
Although the girls get to miss school on occasion, it’s almost not worth it once the weather drops in the second half of the season. With all of the inconsistent weather in Missouri, the girls never know what to expect; but they know they can not use the weather as an excuse for a poor round.
“We have a lot of rainy, miserable tournaments,” said Sydney Sanders, junior and captain on Varsity.
So far the ladies have had a good turn out but their main goal is to make it to sectionals, followed by state.
“I think we have a shot this year,” said Sanders, “Lindsay (Gile) and I have a good chance of making it.”
Gile, senior, is the other senior on the team and is the only one with state experience so far. Hopefully for this batch of girls, their goals come true and they can bring home the state title for the Lady Panthers.
Sanders, Gile, and there other three Varsity comrades look to tee it up Thursday at home against Liberty, Oak Park, and Ray Pec with what looks like to be just splendid weather out at the National Golf Course.
