Hometown Heroes

August 23, 2011 Missouri Western Football Players, Jack Long and friend Shane Simpson, were driving home from practice. On the drive home the two noticed something relatively odd.

An older women trying to beat down the windor from a  door of a car. The two stopped pulled in and asked what she was doing.

At the time thinking that the women was trying to break down. The woman explained frantically that her grandson was trapped in the car and the keys were locked in. The 18-month-old boy was puking, and on the verge of passing out in the car.

When Long was quick to act, he got a hold of a hammer and with one shot, he busted out the window and saved a baby from a most probable death. What makes this so close to home is the fact Jack Long is a South graduate, recipient of the “Mr.Panther” Award and was a member of our community at one point in time.

Jack Long was simply in the right place at the right time, and is now a national hero.
