Directed by John Luessenhop, Takers features a star-studded cast featuring music artists Chris Brown and Tip T.I. Harris, as well as well known actors like Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen. The cast works surprisingly well together, never giving one actor the spotlight for too long, but still giving everyone their time to shine.
The movie is filled with hand-to-hand fights, crime, explosions, and gun fights. Takers is your run of the mill “guy” movie. It features the bad guys walking away from a slow-mo explosion unphased, and even slow motion dives through the air while shooting, making some parts of the movie feel generic for an action movie.
Despite theses factors, Takers is still a very entertaining movie. It does a great job of keeping you interested the whole way through.
The plot revolves around a gang of professional criminal masterminds who have just pulled off the biggest heist of their careers. But everything changes when a former member, straight out of jail, surprises the group with one final job.
I would give the film a strong 3 stars out of 4. Takers was released August 27, and is currently showing at AMC Barrywoods.
